My Story

What's a little cartilage tear to stand in the way of a marathon? Here we go again.. .

The biggest challenge facing the safety of women and children in the UK, in 2018, is funding. Last year, more women and children were turned away from refuges than were allowed in, with two thirds of these women accompanied by minors. These women and children are vulnerable and trying to escape domestic abuse, some ended up sleeping rough with their children, some of whom were pregnant, whilst others returned to the home and the abuse.

Last year, the Women’s Aid helpline was contacted over 85,000 times with nearly 15,000 women and children being supported by this means alone. The refuge Women’s Aid source provides a modicum of much needed stability, security and hope. Women’s Aid helps those effected by not just physical abuse but also victims of mental abuse and coercive control.
They are an entirely vital movement that tirelessly works to save and improve lives, from the first conversation with a victim to survivor support for years to come.

You should read this piece ( is you’ve any doubts about how urgently funding is needed in this area. Or take a look at the long list of everything they do, here: , to understand the breadth of their work.

We’ve all seen the #MeToo and #TimesUp hashtags sweep the world, I see this as a chance to proactively support a charity who directly and consistently help women and children get out of dangerous and abusive situations.

I know the majority of people reading this, won’t be used to me maintaining any level of sincerity for this amount of time so that should be a hint at how important this is.

I’m ridiculous terrified about the 26.2 miles that I’ll have to run as well as the huge fundraising target I have to hit. I hugely appreciate all the support I’ve already received from you all and hope it continues.

I've created this page because I want to make a difference and support Woman's Aid by raising money as part of my participation in Virgin London Marathon 2018. Please help me help them by giving whatever you can using the 'Give Now' button. The more people that know about Women's Aid, the greater their impact, so please also spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot!

Thank You
